In a society obsessed with quick-fixes and band-aid solutions it would be nice to get inside the lives of Canadians who have made the time in their lives to pursue something extraordinary ... the attainment of excellence for it's own sake. Too often these stories focus on the 'master' in a retrospective manner (i.e. first they need to be one before their story matters), and too often associated with fame or fortune.

It seems too loose the story of the struggle for it's own sake. How about looking at people who aren't quite there yet? People who live in obscurity and are exploring the edges of something they have poured their lives into. The doubts, financial struggles, the people their lives, their dreams. It could be an artist, and athlete, it could be someone trying to beat a world record, it could be the person living in the apartment next to you raising champion brewing yeast, it could be the last in a long line of boat builders.

Maybe think of it as emerging talent but don't be afraid to explore the obscure and grittier side of life.

I think this would help people connect with their passions and dreams. Life's too short. What are you doing for the pure joy of it?
